Ballerific Charity: Dave Chappelle Donates $50,000 To Flint, Michigan

Last year, Dave Chappelle was scheduled to perform at a charity benefit to help with the Flint, Michigan water crisis but he bailed at the last minute to attend The Oscars with Chris Rock instead. If you’ve watched his latest Netflix specials, he addressed this controversial decision.
“Come on, man…What am I going to do about the water,” Chappelle said in his Netflix comedy special. “Stevie Wonder was there, they didn’t need me. I’m sorry everybody. I’ve never been to the Oscars. You see the movies I make.”
Well fast forward a little over a year later and Chappelle was back in Flint trying to make things right. The comedian did a show on Wednesday at The Whiting (the same venue the original benefit was held at) and told the crowd all of the proceeds from the night would be going to a local charity. He then presented a check for $50,000 to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, which will help children that have been exposed to lead in the city’s contaminated water.
The foundation’s CEO, Isaiah Oliver, said they are grateful for Dave’s commitment.
